Cybersecurity researchers have uncovered a campaign distributing Go-based malware through two Go Modules and two Terraform providers, with the HashiCorp registry being abused as a distribution channel for the first time.

According to Aikido, the affected packages are:

    • gocommunity-io/dockerd — approximately 222 downloads
    • kreuzwenker/ (additional details truncated in the source)

The use of a trusted, centralized repository like HashiCorp's registry is notable because it allows attackers to blend in with legitimate infrastructure tooling, potentially exposing organizations that pull providers and modules directly into their build pipelines.

Has your organization audited its Terraform providers or Go module dependencies for these packages?
