Dell has issued a warning about a critical vulnerability in its System Update (DSU) command-line interface (CLI) deployment tool, urging customers to apply patches as soon as possible. The flaw could allow attackers to gain root privileges on affected systems.

Dell has not published a specific CVE identifier for this vulnerability, so no tracking number is available at this time.

Administrators running Dell System Update should prioritize patching immediately. Until the update is applied, the tool should be treated as a potential local privilege escalation vector.

    • Apply the latest Dell patch for System Update (DSU) as soon as possible
    • Limit access to the DSU CLI to trusted users only
    • Monitor for unusual privilege escalation activity on systems with DSU installed

Does your organization run Dell System Update in production, and have you already applied the patch?
