Contagious Interview Campaign Compromises 30,000 Devices, Steals $10.71M in Crypto
-
The Contagious Interview campaign has compromised at least 30,000 devices across more than 100 countries, according to a new joint cybersecurity advisory. The operation, attributed to North Korean threat actors, has also siphoned funds or account credentials from over 7,000 cryptocurrency wallets.
The campaign primarily targets individual web designers, engineers, and cryptocurrency specialists.
Key points from the advisory:
- At least 30,000 compromised devices
- Victims located in more than 100 countries
- Over 7,000 cryptocurrency wallets affected
- Estimated losses of $10.71 million in crypto
- Primary targets: web designers, engineers, and cryptocurrency specialists
Given the broad geographic spread and the targeting of individuals rather than a single sector, security teams may want to review their exposure to this campaign and ensure endpoint and credential protections are in place.
