The flaw, tracked as CVE-2026-86950, is an out-of-bounds write that could allow arbitrary code execution when a maliciously crafted file is processed. Apple says the issue may have been exploited in targeted attacks.

Affected platforms:

Older versions of iOS

Older versions of iPadOS

Older versions of macOS

Users on older releases should apply the available updates as soon as possible to close the exposure window. Given that exploitation has possibly occurred in the wild, prompt patching is strongly advised.
